hi
Happy Christmas, and to those who are of other persuasions, compliments of the season.

Your Christmas Day Google puzzle is nothing more than my needing help...

How do I search for someone with a common surname but distinctive initials I and S

If I search for I S SURNAME or even "I S SURNAME", Google searches for "IS SURNAME" or tells me "is" is a common word that's discarded...

A search for "I S SURNAME" - IS returns nothing.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell me how to search for that person!

Thanks for a wonderful time in this most sociable and welcoming forum.

Happy Christmas, WebmastersWorldwide, and to Brett in particular.

An interesting problem. "i s", i.s, "i.s", i-s and "i-s" are all either switched to "is" before the search is run, or have the "i" removed as a stopword.

The only answer I can find is "+i +s", which seems to get around the problem.

"I$S SURNAME" can do the job.

Nicely done FromRocky - I hereby award you the prize.

It's just that I can't find it, even with Google search....

Since my Christmas greeting took three days to come out of the closet, I'd better wish all my friends here a Happy New Year right now!
