for example, ebay.com
use google to search "link to"
link: ebay.com
230,000 results

use google to search "content contains"
"ebay.com"
11,900,000 results

google: "link to" and "content contains"
whats the difference?
how does google distinguish between them?
and i guess only "link to" increase a website's pagerank , am i correct?

The first is a very approximate number for how many links Google have identified as pointing to a URL.

The second is a very approximate number for how many pages mention the domain name in their pages, or are linked with that domain name in the anchor text.
