PR fluctuations

Not sure a PR update is on it's way but I have noticed some fluctuations...

One of our sites has just gone from PR5 to a PR6.

Another site I watch has gone from a PR7 to a PR6.

Yet another site has gone from a PR7 to a PR0 and looks like it has been banned!

Is anybody else seeing any fluctuations?

Is it so? Iven't noticed anything but if you've then PR update is near.

Where can we actually check the PR? I heard that on the google toolbar we see outdated PRs.

My site too has been gifted a PR 0. It was a 4 'fore.

Any way in case my PR bounces back, i shall inform here.

I have seen one site get a PR0 (was 5) but it is still in the index.

If you want a fixed IP to try, I can see changes on 216.239.37.104.

I can only spot updates on a select few domains. I cannot find a single example of an inner page that has updated.

I think pages that have more than two urls are facing this problem

Mine had 1) www.domain.com and 2) www.domain.com/index.php

I had a PR4 for the first and PR0 for the other.
Always GBot came crawling asking for the first url.
But for the past week it is also asking for the 2nd.

And my 2nd url has a PR of 4 now. Seems strange.

When i did the link:www.domain.com & link:www.domain.com/index.php
both commands essentially turned up the same pages of which lots of them where internal links.

When i checked the pages none of the had a link pointing to www.domain.com/index.php but all were to just www.domain.com

So how come my 2nd url is geting all the pagerank.

I think Google is picking one url and passing all the page rank to it, In my case it is the second one.

And when i used the first a tool for predicting future page rank it predicted www.domain.com/index.php will be PR8. Say how reliable is this tool?

And the curious thing is i have never used www.domain.com/index.php for getting links into. But always the first one. So how did G decide that it should be alloted the pagerank?

For a week now PR was 0 for the 1st url. But no change in serps infact went up a few notches so i did not worry much.

Planning not to do much untill it is more clear.

One more cause for concern.
If G is deciding on only one url and passing the PR then what happens if some body redirects to me. Will that pages PR get passed on to me or (god forbid) mine to him?

I guess one more can of worms for all us fishes here.

The last PR update on the toolbar was around October 6th. Given that the updates appear to be every 3 months (if 2 data points make a pattern), the next PR update on the toolbar should be around January 6th - not too far away.

Okay, with regard to the page rank tool predictor, which is the first result from the Google kw search "page rank tool" has anyone seen the that the predictions are accurate?

I just tried it for the first time and it predicts that my site will go from PR6 to PR7. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to that next update.

I've just tried it for the first time too.
Shame they didn't write cross-platform HTML - on Apple Mac Safari, the prediction is hidden underneath some other text!

Armed with first-hand experience of the quality of their testing I now have a better view on the quality of their predictive processes!

And I see my 350 page site, a world beater for its search terms, with 55 inbound links is predicted to be PR4, whereas my newly launched 23 page site, with one page in the index, 22 pages unindexed, and three inbound links is going to be PR5

I do not think I would put much weight in the page rank predictor.

"Results: Your current Google PageRank is 5. Based on our calculations, we predict your future PageRank after the next Google update will be 10."

On the other hand, maybe it is correct :)

That's interesting. I just tried amazon.com by itself, with a www, and with an [www...] and got the same results for all: current PR8 future PR8. If nothing else, the variation in results found between this post and the last probably suggest the tool is problematic. Oh well, there goes my future PR7!
