My site of around 800 pages seems to have been pretty much gone from the google serps since mid November.I did some changes at the start of December and if I search for a phrase from my pages it manages to still pick up 17 pages of mine with a cached date of 6 December which includes the changes I made since dissappearance.

The question I am asking is - out of these 17 pages my homepage is not one of them but why would it still have cached a few of these pages if banned etc, one of the cached pages is the sitemap which in theory should then of cached pages linked off that

Two of my sites did that recently.
One down from 279 indexed pages to 2 plus 67 URL only, and the other down from 22 indexed pages to zero.

Google replied to both my emails saying the sites were not banned.
Since then and until the recent update, the missing site had got one page back, and the other site freshened one of the two pages, lost the other and gained one.

At the recent update, most of each site reappeared, marked supplemental and with a cache date of 1969.

I've no explanation for why Googlebot fails to call by daily - it's down to once a month, and that, I think, is half the problem.

It seems that it's all happening in slow motion!
