Im not getting any hits from google all the pages are in the index but way way down, its almost like a sandbox or dup penalty filter.

So i was thinking of moving to a subdomain with fresh new content. I heard that its better to host the sub domain on seprate ip, does this help?

Presently we are caught in an sitewide penalty, just none of the pages rank duplicate or otherwise. So i was thinking to move to a sub domain as it was seen as new domain with the new content instead of replacing the old content on the site.

Should i move to a sub domain or should i just replace the duplicate content on the site?

IMHO depends on your domain name. If it's good then i'd work hard at getting rid of the duplicate content. This is what you were going to do anyways.
