that's called geolocation/geotargeting.

I had this same problem a few months ago on my Laptop, even though I had never used this Laptop in Germany and never used any German version of Windows (or done anything that should have caused this).

The solution is to reset your cookie.

It may be called Geo-targeting, but in my experience it never works properly.
I think that if someone wants the .co.uk version of whatever website, they should have to go to the .co.uk address.

When I was in Italy during a summer a few years back, google.com would redirect to google.it. As annoying as it was, I did appreciate that most Italians would probably want the google.it site instead of the usa google.com site.

If you do not have security access to erase cookies, you can try the IP address of google.com (i.e. 216.239.57.99)

yes its gone back to normal now, very odd, hasnt happened to me for over 2 yrs using google.

I get this every six months or so for a few days. It's happening right now.

I get taken to .de in about every 2nd browser I start (I run a lot of browsers, and always flush cookies on exit).

Looks like Google is messing with geotargetting and getting it wrong again.
