Most competitive two word search phrase for Google results?

Which two word phrase tops the list?

I have often wondered if I am doing well on search rankings for competitive search phrases. One way of looking at it (but certainly not the best - I know Wordtracker and Overture suggestion are better) is the number of search results Google lists.

Which search phrase would get the most search results within a Google search? (the number on the top right?) That is not counting what google sees as stopwords (the, a, and..)

Just a few:

new copyright ---- 7.150.000
copyright free --- 6.690.000
new free --------- 6.850.000
new page --------- 6.490.000
last updated ----- 6.390.000
advanced search -- 4.790.000
forum information - 4.360.000
tv news ----------- 4.100.000
search engine ----- 3.330.000

You see I get bored just after Google updates :)

I call foul on 'a s' . Google ignores the space and reads it as 'as' and hence it is only one word.

Non stop-words, not numbers...best I've found is the mystical:

all one

8,080,000

(any langauge, no filtering. 8,160,000 on www3)

808 state, we must be trippin to be even doing this ;)

I go with "all one" because its the only legitimate construction of two words ive seen in most of this thread thats scored high :)

Not tripping, just evading the important things stacked up just out of sight. Slighly better:

no one: 8,260,000

Or the unphrase-like:

one no: 8,310,000

Or you can cheat and have the same word twice (still a phrase within the rules, maybe), like the name of the 80s (?) group:

The The: 10,500,000

And, surprisingly, "The The" is _not_ flagged as stop word(s).

I'll go lie down now.

>The The

There was a ban called The The, maybe thats the reason it isnt a stopword when used twice

It looks more like a bug in the stop words.

Use two stop words and neither is flagged. Try it:

a man (one stop)
the man (one stop)
a the (no stops, treated as 2 words)
a a (no stops -- but treated as aa)

"bug in stop words"

not sure if its really a bug, it could be interpret the words as a mistype of a larger word before ruling out the search altogether

"aa" is actually in the dictionary. dunno about "athe" though, although many words deriving from Latin with the beginning "athe" tends to pertain to believers of something, so maybe googles just trying to fiddle around in that respect :)

And the winner is...

sfraga with:

1. you all - 8.190
2. if you - 8.100
3. all one - 8.090 (BOL)

copyright 2002 (is 2002 a word?)
all others use stop words as far as I could see, or single letters and not words.

you can check if a word is a stop word if you combine one word of your two word search phrases with a clear not stop-word search:

is car - for example will show "is" as a stop-word.
whereas a search for - this is - will not show that "is" is a stop-word.

By the way- check with which country version of Google you are searching. Google discriminates with non-google.com searches from other countries in showing less results. Also check how safe or clean you are searching within the preferences.

Of course all the counts back in April are now wrong and need redoing.

A few I've checked are up by about half a million.

The hypercompetitive amoungst us might want to resubmit their bids for greatness.
