Google SEO Recommendations?

I am new to the site and had a chance to browse through the Google FAQ, especially the "Successful site in 12 months with Google alone" (http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm) post.

I noticed the date for that post was 2002 and was wondering if the suggestions in that post were still on target, as well as if there were anything additional to be considering.

That is still a very useful post from our fearless leader Brett Tabke. But, as great as it is, you should avail yourself of all that is available here at WebmasterWorld and do some additional reading to see if anything new would also apply.

As you read the forums, don't be led astray by some of the wild linking strategies you'll come across. Do what's logical for your users and you won't go wrong.
