I have been posting in favour of the Sandbox's existence and I have 2 sites firmly stuck in the sand!
However...
2 weeks ago I registered a brand new domain and started to build a new site. I knew it would be at least 6 months before anything happened but..
This morning it entered the index for the first time - straight on page one for a one word search (a town, granted only 194,000 matches) but none the less the last 2 sites still cannot achieve similar results after 6 months.
Also preliminary early pages ranking very well
The site has only one incoming link, no adsense, banners or anything, vanilla html etc.
Built as per my last 2 sites so clearly something has changed!
Regards and hope to all

Google insiders will be able to sell 269.9 million shares within the first six months of the stock trading.
They were able to start selling some shares (4.6 million) as soon as 15 days after the initial public offering and an even greater number (39 million) after 90 days.
Usually, the so-called lock-up period lasts 180 days.

BroadProspect,
Not siding with or against the theory but perhaps because it's easier to keep the formula simple that way and besides it doesn't negatively affect them just because they don't sell AdWords (not saying they really don't...) for certain terms.
Besides, these areas are probably prone to being manipulated with the SEO trick de jour and providing a little extra stabilization in them might not be such a bad idea in Google's eyes.
hdpt00 - I agree that complex results can originate from a few simple axioms. The movement of a flock of birds, or school of fish, look highly organised but really just originate from 3 very simple rules.
I've personally held the revenue theory as a "possible" for a while but outside of a select few, who really knows? It may or may not be correct. But it is a framework for thinking about what may be correct.

John: When GOOG hits about 172, do me a favor and sell about a billion dollars' worth of my shares?
Stock Broker: You got it, take care.
