Google Images Indexing

What's the best way to structure a pg for image indexing?

Our classifieds based site currently contains predominantly dynamic product pages where the images are located.

In an attempt to grow traffic in Google Image search, I want to set up a series of html pages specifically developed as an image library to improve indexability in G.I.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to structure this page/s?

So far I was imagining a pg (restricted to 100k) that contains a series of images each with alt tags and file names containing a specific keyword.

Assuming the images page is linked to our site map and indexed, what is the likelihood of these images ranking well in image search?
