Is this Google's attempt to compete with MSN's TerraServer? I'd figure they'd at least find a way to give the service away for free somehow.

Don't know if I would compare it to that, but I would say ---- it is awesome. It is the best thing to come out of Google since pagerank. Local and personal search finally has some real teeth instead of real hype.
