Fresh content boost

Could CTR influence SERP position?

It's accepted that fresh content gets a boost in the SERPs. Do you believe that fresh content undergoes a "popularity" check, based on the CTR it achieves during this fresh boost period?

It's not unreasonable. Consider the way Adwords positioning works: a text ad's position is determined by both the keyword bid amount and the CTR. Accordingly, this serves up the most "relevant" ads first.

Wouldn't this be a reasonable way to increase "relevance" within the natural listings as well? Perhaps it's already done. Have any of you seen evidence of this?
