I have a portuguese site, here in Brazil.

When someone search 'in the web', or 'portuguese pages' or 'pages in Brazil' using Google, my site is among the results.

I know google can autodect the language, but he knows the country by the IP number (as I don't use any meta tags and he knows my page is a Brazilian one)

I want to move to a american datacenter, but don't want be missing when some search by 'pages in Brazil'.

Anybody knows if Google follow the <meta name="country"...> tag, or if there is other way to google knows my country other than the (and above the) IP number?

Thank you.

By IP number. If you want Brazil only, best stay with Brazilian hosting. It may make a difference, though it it's a local TLD rather than a .com - someone else will have to verify. Is it a .com site or a Brazilian TLD?
