Do they help for page rank, SERP position?

The host of the webring for my topic ignores all my requests to join.

Guess I'm too much competition, hehe. The webring host has been #1 in the Google SERPs forever, this morning I've crept up to #4. I want to knock him off. The 3 pages that come up above mine are spider bait and offer scant or irrelevant commercial content.

I don't really care about the webring per se, I have tons of traffic. But what about PR? Am I missing out?

Should I start my own webring to come up higher in the SERPs?
