Reviving a previously 301'd domain

How to get google to recognise it as a unique site again

Hi,

I had a URL from which I moved my site a few months ago. I used a htaccess 301 redirect and Google correctly dropped all the old pages and picked up the new domain instead (Yahoo seems to have been slower).

I'm now using the old domain again, with different design and content, and would like Google to come visit again and see the change. Any tips on the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Donovan

Well first off you need to get some back links to you old domain.

Thanks for the reply.

I have some links that existed previous to the changover, and was concerned that Google had stopped visiting, and so would not pick up on the change. Currently Google indexes the new site under the URL of the old, even though the 301 was removed previous to the most recent cache date.

I guess its simply a question of time in that case.

Cheers,

Donovan

If you have links to the old site from other sites that are already well indexed by google, then in time it will all sort itself out. I'm not sure if there is anything you can do to hurry this up though, maybe someone else can give their personal experiences on this?
