Does GoogleBot correctly resolve HTML entities?

I've noticed the GoogleBot can be a little stupid sometimes. Things that should not be a problem in HTML sometimes cause it to fail to follow a link.

What I'm wondering is if anyone knows if the GoogleBot correctly resolves entities in link text. For example, will Google pick up the link text "widgets" from the following link?

<a href="widgets.com">&#119;&#105;&#100;&#103;&#101;&#116;&#115;</a>

And will the GoogleBot will follow this version to widgets.com?

<a href="&#119;&#105;&#100;&#103;&#101;&#116;&#115;&#46;&#99;&#111;&#109;">widgets</a>

Anyone know?
