Un-noindexing.

How long?

In a masterstroke of over-confident brashness, I uploaded a little site for a friend of mine.
All was well except that the Dreamweaver template I based the site on had a META ROBOTS NOINDEX at the top.
I didn't realise for three weeks, and was getting more and more surprised not to see it, when Google had already been to many of the other sites that I'd placed links on.
Friday last week found me having a particularly inspirational moment in the shower when the penny dropped with a very loud thud.

OK, so I'm a dork of the first magnitude, and I hope I've made you all smile.
Just one question - does anyone have an estimate of the time period Google will leave before it indexes it. Will it be the same time as if it were a fresh site, or now I've punched the Googlebot on the nose, will it be more reticent about returning?

Thanks!

It's 4 days now I assume, right? If yes, I'd suggest to wait a few more days and you should see GB within 10 days or so.

Or try adding a few more pages of content, link them and see GB coming sooner. It's also an advantage having more pages on a site, so don't waste your time waiting, build pages with good content instead. :)

I would try and get some more links as well to increase the chances and frequency that your site can be spidered.

I normaly wait for Google to find new sites via incoming links, however in this case, I would submit to Google at [google.com...] and in the comments box say why.

I did the same dorky thing on a site of mine. In fact I went you one better, I did it twice on the same site.

Mine was hand_made by me and used as a DW template and I did the same thing - left the noindex in. Could NOT figure out why the site wasn't getting indexed. Decided to check and there it was. I took it out on pages, not realizing what was "editable" or not, and uploaded again.

You guessed it - still there the second time.

There's no problem with them coming back again, it'll be good to go, and as long as there's a link from a frequently refreshed page it won't take long. Also, it can't hurt to submit, it only takes a few seconds.
