What's the difference between these two user-agent logs?

I read in ly server logs:

IP: 66.249.66.66
User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

but also:

IP: 66.249.65.12
User-agent: Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Why?

Is there difference?

Some sites say the Mozilla Googlebot is a cloak checker, some say it is a JavaScript link follower, really I have no idea of the difference, but I did email Google and ask if the Mozilla Googlebot was theirs, and save spoofing, it is a Googlebot.
