When I hear myself asking this question, it sounds a bit silly.
But few times already I had this question in mind.
Do you think the first time google index your site is important to future ranking? Do u think it's good to wait until your site is 100% ready for indexing?
- I didn't exchange links with other sites yet, because I didn't want google to find my site. I know few people do the same. Maybe it's a wrong approach...?

You do want the site's links to work but it doesn't have to be perfect at first. It will take a long time for Google to crawl your site. You won't get many visitors at all at first so it's not like people will see that you are still rough around the edges.
