date in serps

I have a general question about the date in Google serps. I am doing some work on client site that has been in the index for years. It always gets spidered on a regular basis and normally you can find several pages in the serps that have a date next to the cache link, typically the date will be only a couple of days previous.

In the week I have noticed that the date is no longer appearing in searches next to any of the pages and that the last stored cache of most recent pages was around 7th Sept.

Does this mean that the bot simply hasn't been to the site for some reason in the last week and I should just continue to wait until it does. Or is it an indicator that the site is no longer being crawled? The site is still in the index although a few pages have dropped.

Doing a search on my other client sites I see that their pages have dates of 14th-15th sept but not on the other site that is no longer displaying a date.

Should I just wait and see or might there be a problem here?

Hey there,

What you are seeing is called a "freshdate", I believe...

Check some of these past threads [google.com] on the topic.
