So when you go to [google.co.uk...] you may get some type of alert from your browser. It is still secure and it doesn't look like Google missed any payments (they can afford such things easily now!).
I think that SSL starts before the HOST header is sent. To avoid the certificate mis-match Google would need to use a different IP for a UK certificate, or redirect Adsense clicks on www.google.co.uk to www.google.com

As far as I can see the relevant Google UK page [google.co.uk] links to the .com pages anyway, but for people who guess the wong address perhaps it would make sense to change the redirect from [google.co.uk...] to go to [google.com...] instead of [google.co.uk...]
