Hey, I need to optimize a page that is in russian for google.. does google crawl russian text aswell? or how does that work.. can anybody please point me to some information.

Yes, google crawl russian texts. It has even Russian interface. Have a look [google.com...]

The biggest problem, which you will meet, is a quantity of wordforms in Russian. e.g. word "walk" has 3 forms in English (walk, walked, walks). Russian word "idti" (it's the same meaning) has over 20 different forms and some of them are completely different. "idti"="walk" but "walked"="shel". Google works with English wordforms but Russian forms of the particular verb are absolutely different words for it.
