I recently trashed Google toolbar and installed yahoo toolbar since No Pagerank update happened and no change in the green of the toolbar, ill definetely install it back if i see a pagerank update, Only advantage Google Toolbar has over any other toolbar is the Green display on it, I hope Google doesnt forget Pagerank is the important PR(Public Relations) Tool for them, We know Google has the updated Pagerank for all the indexed sites out there, Just that they are not willing to bring it public doesnt look good,
Already they lost a lot of webmaster traffic due to the messing up of the backlink command(link:), If they think SEOs and webmasters are not important to them then they can do what ever they like, I just want to say one thing, Webmasters and SEOs are some of the most important Public relations for google, If they dont realise it then they might loose all their traffic to MSN and Yahoo who are ready to bring in Innovative ideas to attract webmasters/site owners and SEOs,
We love watching the Green Bar and show us what we love Google, Dont hide an excellent Public relation tool, We know you are in the IPO problem but make webmasters who watch the Green Bar Happy, Go for a Pagerank update please :-)

In the end each and every engine should cater to the individuals searching and specifically not to those trying to manipulate the results (and no matter how good or relevant your site if you practice SEO then you are manipulating the results).
When said manipulation starts to effect the integrity of the serps in a negative manner then google has little choice other then further shrouding its results and process in mystery. If this means that the green bar is almost three months behind (which it is indeed for a handful of pages on one of my sites), or that backlinks are obscured so be it (as an aside the pr or backlinks as formerly reported by toolbar and link: command are poor guesses at best post hilltop - hilltops idea of pr and linkweight is specific to the query whereas toolbar PR and link do not account for the query).
MSN and Yahoo can be as ready as they like to bring inovative ideas - one is run by a parasitic (the antithesis of inovative) monopoly who has yet to write a browser that fully supports css or png or enable tabbed browsing, from the perspective of the webmaster they have a track record of making things exponentially more difficult. The other company I dont necessarily dislike but their name has not derived into a term synonomous with web search, nor do they have the market share of the big G.
My allegiance as a webmaster is certainly not to the company who most easily allows the manipulation of its results - because by nature these results will be crap and therefore largly unused. Rather I favor the engine which holds the greatest market share - a year ago anyone trying to optimize for MSN would have been severly missing the mark, and the only reason this has changed today is because of the similarity between the algorithms and data used by Y and MSN.
I was pleasantly surprised when I started using Yahoo for searches this week. The results are not cluttered as previously, and most importantly, the content is fresh. I believe I will take your advice, and try the Yahoo toolbar for a while.
The fact is that Google doesn't provide very good results anymore. They don't run the best search engine, nor provide the best results. If they can't update the PageRank, then their toolbar is worthless to me. I'll simply install a toolbar with a search engine that brings good results.
Good point! But following that line of reasoning, it seems to lead to a tacit admission that the organization is incapable of simultaneously preparing for the IPO AND conducting the normal, ongoing business processes. My question is "Why NOT let your engineers run a PR update?"
I wish nothing but the best for Google and hope that all this discussion on our part is just nervous energy being expended and not the result of serious flaws in G's organizational structure. I would think that with an IPO coming up shortly, this is when a company would most certainly want everything to proceed normally, following established patterns, and that would include updates even if they do not occur at precise, scheduled intervals.
Google fails to realize that a large portion of their toolbar users are strictly using it for PR.
I agree 100%, Google's toolbar is nothing special than any other toolbar, Most of the people out there use Google's Toolbar just for Pagerank, If google thinks Toolbar Pagerank update is not important then so be it, I am not against Google in any way, i love google and all its efforts,
As a Normal active google user for all my personal needs i want Google to grow and I want their important Toolbar Pagerank to be updated atleast once a month, It makes so many site owners/webmasters/SEOs happy,

Toolbar Pagerank is never accurate especially for dynamic URLs, Mostly we see the Green in the Toolbar just for the fun of it, So make the site owners and most of the toolbar users happy that is what we ask from google,
