Two domains - same material

A good problem

I just recently bought two domains, with both domains covering the exact content. Truthfully, I only need one, but I could not pass up the oppertunity. Now the question is, how do I build these two? Any advice? I would like both domains searchable on google and not just a rollover if possible. I just don't want a duplicate content penalty.

The sites need to have different content or you will suffer sooner or later.

Assuming that neither domain is already penalized, I'd change out the content on the weaker one ASAP. If you don't have replacement content, at least make changes. Perhaps begin with site-wide template changes, and then immediately start editing content. Changing wording, breaking down pages differently, altering titles & descriptions, etc. should be quick and a reasonably effective short-term fix.

I have not built the sites yet, so I just want to make sure I do it right. I appreciate all feedback - I just don't want any penalties. =)

Consider making the content and design to target different audience segments instead of just changing some random wording to avoid getting dinged by the search engine.
