Hackers harness Google to hunt for weaknesses

A simple search for the log-in page of Microsoft's Web server software, the Internet Information Server, turned up 11,300 sites on the Internet that exposed the page to the public.

Although most of us are smart enough to use Apache (sorry msndude), it's probably worth checking our own servers once in a while...

So why allow it to to be posted then Bret (whoever you are) - so that you can make a wry comment?

See my earlier post:

It's just an ego thing ain't it!

j4mes may easily have not seen the earlier threads on this, as I expect the space between the postings on this topic were several months apart.

It seems to me that Brett's response was polite way to acknowledge the topic while giving a nod to the fact that it is not actually "news".

Brett doesn't need anyone to defend him and can speak for himself. Speaking for myself...Brett "(whoever you are)" is the guy who created this incredibly usefull forum on which we all rely. I for one, owe a lot to him and those who post here sharing usefull information and thoughtfull insights. Without Brett and the mods, this place would not exist.

This is old, in the past when you did search on stuff like: database timeout connection.inc, did gave hundreds of hits to raw database connections. I think its not smart that google includes results from 5xx pages
