Got a dmoz listing for a new domain within a couple of weeks of launch - that was over 2 months back, and it's still 'sandboxed' by G (or to be more precise - it's backlinks are still 'sandboxed/ignored'). This new domain lists in the top 3 for allintext, allinanchor and allintitle.
Think about the way G is moving too - recently they stopped showing whether a site was listed in dmoz, never mind not listing the category it showed in! This looks to be a rather extreme move that shows a big shift away from its long term practice of placing faith in human editors.
This thread gives us evidence of some sites managing to dodge the sandbox - I'd be very interested to know more from folks who have skipped the sandbox montster and gotten ranked highly for competitive keyphrases. (So that means less from those who have falled foul ;-) You want to get results, model excellence, else you'll end up like a doctor wondering why the diseases you've studied so closely are still spreading...
Anyone need a soapbox? I'm standing down now.
