How do you get a website listed in the "Local Results" during a google search?

Thanks.

Not completely sure but I believe most of the results are taken from Yellow Pages.

I sent Google local a request to update a listing in April, they responded teice in about a weeks time and assured me that they would pass the updated info along to their local results supplier. The information has still not been updated as of now, so good luck.

Same thing here, I entered my information about 4 or 5 months ago and then recently.

Some of my local competitors show up in the local results all of whom don't even have websites. I even used the address tag for my address and still no results.

Not sure what you mean but I'll elaborate. None of the other businesses are in my zip code. If I type in my zip and my keyword they are there I am not. I'm in both local directories, one of which has my web address listed on the online version. It's a big company too. I can't even get a result by using my company name. It's simply not listed at all.

Now if I use the regular search for the keyword only I currently have number 9 and 11.

The trick I guess is to figure out which directory they are using. It must be one other than the two local ones because it would be listed. I even checked around some of the other online directories and I'm listed in most.

As I understand it, Google is cross referencing the contact information on your website with business listings from InfoUSA and a number of different Yellowpages, including SuperPages. You have to have a mappable location (i.e. physical address). InfoUSA lets you add a listing for free at
[list.infousa.com...]

Hope that helps. Make sure the address is on your website- we don't include ours because we provide a national service, and we have links to people's resume's and other junk instead of our home page with our listing.
