Google displays current cache...BUT

The title displayed is over 6 months old!

Google is showing a current cache for my site (July 10, 2004). But, the title Google displays is NOT the current title of my site. It is a title from 6 months ago. Has anyone else experienced this? There has never been this problem in over 4 years with any of my sites. Now, during the past month, it happens.

AFAIK it is not uncommon that the SERP and the cache are from different generations.

How does the description in the SERP look? & months old?

The description is current. The title displayed by Google is over 6 months old (I changed it in December). Google is currently showing a July 8, 2004 cache of the pages in question. Why isn't it caching the current titles? It always has before.
