I've read through Brett's article multiple times and have a question about 1 section and need confirmation on another.

Question First: Could someone provide detail around the statement "Arrange the site in a logical manner with directory names hitting the top keywords you wish to hit."

If the keywords are widget and widget review should I have the widget pages in the /widget directory and the widget review page in the /widget_review directory?

Confirmation: If there is a page that compares widget and is named comparison.html. Should this page be renamed widget_comparison.html?

Thanks.

>>"Arrange the site in a logical manner with directory names hitting the top keywords you wish to hit." <<

Brett is saying that pages and directories should target keywords and should be named according to what they target.

If you want your page to target "widget comparison," then name the page "widget-comparison.htm" and the directory "/widget-comparison/"

If you want to target "widget [whatever]" then that's what you name the page and directory.

Also, many people here will tell you to use a "-" not "_" as your separator.

Thanks. That helps, also brings another question.

review of blue widgets and one for red widgets. Should there be a seperate directory for each or a directory titled widget-reviews with each page under that.

Basically category level directories versus a directory for every page?

I want page 1 to rank well for the search term ___.
I want page 2 to rank well for the search term ___.
I want page 3 to rank well for the search term ___.

What you put in these blanks determines what you should name your pages/directories.

If you want to rank for "blue widgets," use "blue widgets."

If you want to rank for "widget reviews," use "widget reviews."
