I want to redirect the home page to another site that will try to sell my domain. I would just do this with Javascript.
But I still have about 200 pages underneath the root. Many sites link to those non-root pages directly.
Right now, the site has PageRank of 5.
I have Adsense ads on some of those 200 pages. Many of those 200 pages do well in Google SERP.
The next time Googlebot comes to my site to crawl it and sees that there is no home page, will it pull all my pages (the root plus the other 200) out of its index -- or will it just pull out the root page and leave everything else intact.
The spider will still have knowledge of the site from those pages out there that link to my below-the-root pages, so my expectation would be that those pages would stay in the index, the root would be removed, and there would be no decrease in PageRank for the non-root pages.
Does anybody know what will happen? If every page on my site will be eliminated from SERP, then I don't want to do the redirect.
Thanks in advance to the guru who answers this one.
