Will Google follow a refresh tag?

I'm building a site with two language versions. It will have the index page in root level and each language version residing in one subdirectory each.

So far, only one version is finished, so instead off designing the index page as a splash page with options for the user tpo select language, it is temporarily just re-directing to the finished site in its subfolder. To this, I use a meta refresh tag set to refresh on "0" and no regular link (i.e. anchor tag).

Will Google follow that refresh tag, or do I need to add a link, too?

TIA
Dan

I think the answer is "yes, Google will follow the meta refresh in the same way it might follow a HTTP 302 redirect", but with some qualification. There are several recent threads about certain issues with this method, such as [webmasterworld.com...] and [webmasterworld.com...]

Why not add the link to the refreshed page on the front page just for good measure.

And make sure the front page doesn't look like a doorway page whose intent is to cloak the real content. Then again, why not make the page you're going to the home page until you're ready to have other languages?

Hi and thanks for response,

Yes, about three minutes after I posted the question, I moved the indedx page in the subfolder to root and took away the page with the refresh tag.

I should have posted that the issue was solved, but each time I post something here the past week, I have received this "under review"-thing and some posts shows up while others never do.

Cheers,
Dan
