Exact backlink check

Just found a new tool today on alexa.com. Maybe this is already old tricks for some pro here.

Using the websearch in alexa powered by google search for your site. In the SERP, find your site and hover the mouse over to the "Site Info". It display a few interesting information about the site, including the exact number of backlinks according to google database.

I tried a few sites and it seems to display all the backlinks regardless of PR.

Neither Google, nor Alexa are displaying the exact number of backlinks to my site.

I have many more backlinks, also links from PR4 and PR5 pages.

Also, the Alexa information has not been updated for ages.

Agreed. Don't trust the alexa info. For one site I run, Alexa shows 29 backlinks...Google shows 2,470.

Just a bit of difference there. ;)

Haven't seen Alexa update the backlink count for months (actually only been using Alexa for about three months and NEVER seen an update) whereas the big G updated the other day + do so with increasing frequency.

Yahoo does a pretty good job in showing backlinks - even from pages that G won't spider.
