Hi guys,

can anyone explain to me how i can get a decent pagerank in google?
my site has been indexed and is actually quite high up there for certain search terms, but my page rank is still nada, zip, nothing.
how do i increase this PR?

Now as I understand it page rank is not so important anymore for a high ranking, but it is for outbound links
a site with a lot of incoming links from sites with high PR would rate higher

can anyone confirm this?

thanks guys!

Yes, you need lots of inbound quality links...

Google only updates pagerank every 4-6 weeks. To achieve good pagerank (good pagerank is anything from 4-8 depending on what industry and how competitive it is) you should submit to DMOZ and contact other websites and ask for links. Remember you need quality sites linking to you and these quality sites need to be in the Google index.

ps - don't waste all your time on pagerank, many #1 rankings are held by websites with lower pagerank than the other websites that are listed.

Submit to DMOZ, but don't expect this to benefit you because it takes months or years for them to review sites. It is better to focus on local directories. In Canada we have many directories that will list Canadian sites and Google seems to index these links often.
