Is this a new feature?

When you type 'saloon definition' oe 'sedan definition', result no.1 appears with a dictionary image, with a Princeton university URL!

It's been around a little while and it's very handy. I love it, for a definition all you have to do is type it into the toolbar and it's right there. It also works with just the word define, as in define widgets

I normally use define:widgets when I need to define anything. Works like a charm

I checked the URL given - its a princeton university search page. works perfectly. How are these sites decided upon? Isn't it a manual intervention in SERPs by Google? How is it possible for their algorithms to recognise which expert site to show up as no.1 result?

The Princeton logo is because it uses WordNet natural language technology which was developed at Princeton.
