google tolerance of hosts

Hello.

Pardon my ignorance, which is considerable, but somebody told me that Google does not list websites hosted by certain web hosting companies. I am currently shortlisting hosts for a new online business website and I am mainly looking at very cheap offers, around $2-3 per month. Is it true that if I want to ensure Google listing I have to be careful which host I choose, or is this just a figment of someone's imagination?

I don't know the complete ins and outs of Google but Google lists based on the content of the site and I dont think specific hosts cause problems. If the host is hosting some x-rated sites and you are using their doamin name your site may get filtered by not only SE's but filtering programmes (my short web address is blocked by the software my local council use).

I think if you have your own address (.com etc) though a good company Google may not know your hosting with so is not much of a problem.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
