I have noticed that we are no longer in the Google Directory but are still in the DMOZ directory. I thought they were one in the same.

Is this why we recently lost our site's Description in SERPS?

Are you 100% sure you are still in the ODP? If your site shows in the category in question at dmoz.org, the answer is almost certainly yes.

I noticed the same as helenp for numerous sites. Indeed, it seems that there are problems with the search function.

That is all the ODP cares about. What Google does, or does not do, is not what the ODP cares about. Complain to the appropriate people at Google.

I have no beef with ODP. Who said anything about complaining to to ODP?

It is my understanding that Google Directory gets its data form ODP, so I am curious as to why we have a full listing in ODP and none in Google. Perviously we had a listing in both for 3 years.

Also our site has been 'semi-delisted' in Google Search. Only a URL search pulls up our URL without any description (there has been much discussion of this of late in other threads).

I am wondering if there is a connection since both things seem to have happened at about the same time.

Perhaps Google just dropped the ball?

nyet, are you saying you are looking at the Google Directory category and not seeing your site?

The search isn't working so I hope you aren't talking about that.

The Google Directory appears to has started another incremental update of its HTNL pages. I see a category updated today (wasn't yesterday)with new data, but some others continue to show the old stuff. If this works like last time it will all get updated over the new few days.

Yes, the G Directory has been (or is updating) - looks to be from the DMOZ rdf dump of about 3 weeks ago

The Google directory definitely is being updated. The data are somewhat newer than 3 weeks. :)

It includes the current version of a dmoz page that I updated on May 30.

Maybe 2.5 weeks then :-)
There are some sites I added in my category approx 2-3 weeks ago that were not incuded in the G update - so maybe its 2 weeks ago

steveb,

I guess it was indeed just the search that was not working. when I go to the category, we are there.

odd.

Thank you!
