Missing pagerank for categories

Pagerank for categories

In several of my sites, all on shared hosting/Linux/Apache i get a decent rank on the entry url, but not on any of the Categories/sub pages.
This applies to both web sites with static html pages and to web sites with dynamic content.

The sub pages are being indexed and are available through most of the search engines and are bringing traffic to the sites. But neighter the categories nor the sub pages do have any pagerank showing in the google tool bar.

Anyone who knows what might be causing this and a possible solution?

Server side or just through mod rewrite/htaacces or other solutions?

We have exactly the same problem using ASP/IIS.

All of our webpages are being read by the search engines-but except of the homepage (that has a high page ranking) none of the other pages have gained page ranking. This applies even to the pages that are in the root directory.

Please help us with your suggestions!

Could be URL structure, robots.txt, robots meta, lack of plain <a href> links... There's no way to tell based on the information you provided.

Thanks for your answer.

Concerning the URL structure: we maintain a theme-based approach and all of our files are named based on the target keywords and don't exceed the depth of 3-levels from the root directory.

Furthermore, the meta tags we are using are chosen with the same logic all over the site, the homepage included.
As for the robots.txt, we dont have it at all-could that be a problem?
And what do you mean with plain <a href>? Not to involve javascript?

Thanks for the feedback, among the sites which is troubled by this is also a pure html page where all the pages are static and html.

None of the sites have robot txt. might that be it?

Plain <a href> is <a href="http://url">text</a> in HTML. That's what se's follow. If they're there (following links from the homepage to the excluded pages) it's fine.

No robots.txt is fine.

From our homepage we do link (plainly) to all further categories but none of those pages got a pagerank. Although the website is over a year old. It is very confusing!

Might it be something in the makeup/setup of the servers of the choosen hosting company?

We have 5 websites in the same web hosting company. One of them actually gained pagerank all over its categories, but all the others are lacking.

I've seen the same with some directories. Homepage - PR of 5-6. 2 clicks down the line, some categories have PR, some dont. Same URL structure, all indexed, no visible external deep-linking to the PR-ed pages.. strange..

Our website is even worse. 4 year old site with PR5 homepage. All the rest of the page are 0! =.= But it doesn't really hurt SERP since the industry is not very competitive.

Hi,
Wait for the next toolbar PR update. The latest update of this is defenitly incomplete. Your actual PR which governs the SERPs is probably uptodate.

Hello.

I recently inherited the management duties on 16 huge portals. I not only have the same problem mentioned in this thread, but I also have a problem with www.domain.com and domain.com having a different page rank.

Has any of you had this problem? If so...How did you fix it?

Thanks for your help!

I have the exact same problem since the last update.
My other site which is built with the same structure and is on the same server is not impacted.
