Do highly ranked pages that link to other pages need to share keywords?

As an example does a link from a web page about Oil Paintings with PR 8 assist the ranking of a web page about baseball with a PR of 4? Or do the pages need to "share" keywords/topics for the link to count.

I read several faqs but didn't see this addressed.

Also, was Page rank named after Larry?
