Google now connected to four search engines.

Google employee working on recall.archive.org as a side project.

Lets put together these connections, affiliations, and partnerships and see what we get.

The Internet Archive fairly recently launched recall.archive.org, a beta text search of 1/3rd of their 11 billion page index. The Internet Archive is affiliated with Alexa (see here [pages.alexa.com] ), who is testing a search engine at vista.alexa.com. (see this [webmasterworld.com] WWW thread). Alexa is owned by Amazon, who in turn recently launched a9.com. a9.com uses Google search results, who of course has their own search engine.

I now know that a Google employee is working on the search engine for the Internet Archive, completing the circle. See this [archive.org] conversation I had at archive.org.

I'm sure its quite significant.
But it will take a smarter brain than mine to work it out.:(

Archive allows them to figure out the age of the links and site context changes for one thing.

I'm sure their old indexes do that just as well though - and it's more likely to be in the same format for processing.

Seems a bit of a witch hunt.

I'd have to agree. Now if the Google employee had been planted at Archive.org instead of the other way around, I might think differently.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if said employee is working on how to archive old G databases for private & public consumption.
