Where are all my backlinks?

Link search returns 30 results, but over 300 links exist

Sorry if this is a common question, I couldn't find any info so far.

I have a PR6 site, when I search google for backlinks I only get a few dozen results. If I search for my unique domain name, I get over three hundred results, all with links.

I've tried searching for with/without www, index.php/index.htm, etc and always come up with a similar (low) number of links.

Why is this? Are most of the backlinking sites using Javascript to mask the links or something?

These sites that link to you may have not been found by Google or Google may not think they are related to your site and sometimes Google don't show you all the links you really have. Even if they don't show up in Google does not mean they don't know it's there.
