Internal link PR

hello

I've managed to build up my homepage PR strength to a PR5 through a link exchange program but the rest of the site varies from PR4 and below. It's an ecommerce site that sells a number of products and I now want my product pages to come up in a search more than the homepage and therefore be specific to the keyword searches that are being made. So for the past month I've been concentrating on the internal pages by swapping the internal page links with other sites - is this the correct strategy to build up the PR of internal pages and increase their ranking or doesn't it matter and should I just stick with swapping the homepage link?

i.e. i've been swapping [mycompany.com...] instead of [mycompany.com...]

many thanks

Sure that will work better for your specific goal.

rich

welcome to WebmasterWorld

You are spot on trying to get deep links. Have the anchor text in to match the page you are getting a link to. Worry less about the PR, just the quality of the links in.

Cheers

thanks for the info ukgimp - just needed reassurance that I was doing the right thing. Seems to me that getting deep links is what really counts.
