Is reciprocal linking dead?

Are people mistaking a massive reduction in reciprocal link weight for this sandbox effect? Are sites leaving the "sandbox" when they start getting the amount of one-way links their content deserves naturally?

Just asking.

No.

I have watched two new sites come out of the sandbox without changing the number of inbound links during the process.

How do you know when you are out of the samdbox?

We have some sites that are creeping up at 10% more traffic each week. This has been going on for 12 weeks. I estimate it will take at least another 12 months before it they reach the traffic levels one would expect after a few weeks in the index last year.

OK! I don't really know if these sites are out of the sandbox. Actually we don't know for sure if the sandbox exists but I am assuming that it does. All I can say is that both sites had reasonably good content and were created within G's guidelines.

They were indexed in a couple of days but nowhere to be found for the first couple of months. They then started to get some traffic for a another three or four weeks before moving up to a respectable (fair) position.
