I will apologise in advance if this isn't in the correct topic area.

I have a site www.example.com which is mainly about widgets. I wanted to write a few articles on oil(made up) and placed a subdomain on my site so that it was www.example.com/oil/index etc Of course this part of the site grew and I then decided to purchase a new domain www.example2.com solely on oil(again made up) and transferred the pages to this site. I have links on my old page which redirects users to the new pages.

1/ My new domain hasn't been indexed despite being up for 8+ months -any idea why?
2/ The "old" site does have text links showing the new addy-should I put some sort of auto redirect-if so is there a good/best way of doing this
3/ Should I try and exclude the old domain pages from indexing?

Thanks in advance

some quick hints:

- REMOVE the pages from your old domain
- Set up some mod_rewrite rules to redirect olddomain.com/oil/ to newoilddomain.com using 301
- Go get some links to your newoildomain. Do not just link it from your old domain. Collect on topic links from other sites, directories etc. The more the better.
- Check robots.txt at your newoilddomain to see if there's any problem with crawling the site.
