Question about snippets with redesigned site

Hi,
We recently redesigned our site, I went to Google and using the allinurl: search checked all the pages indexed by google.
Now I have old and new pages indexed by Google which is no big deal but my new pages do not have the meta description tag on the google page under the title. It is showing the first text on the page instead. Any ideas?

the snippet will generally be the most relevant text to the search term, not always the description tag.
