What google says about it?
Is that a safe practice?
We are talking about legitimate sites (no link farms or artificially boosted PR) that sell some links...
You can seek for a related site, with good PR and just pay for a link to your site...
What do you say?
I think it would be cool if G decided to hide the little green PR bar and just continue the PR calculations behind the scenes. It... would get people to focus on other things that would benefit the serps
Absolutely agree. Istead of relying on the green bar it would force one to actually take a good hard look at the partnering site. So many times I have read on diferent fora posts relating *do not trade links with sites a/o pages <PR4*. IMO too many have made the green bar the Holy Grail and have neglected the fact there are reasons to link besides the assumed PR value. There was linking before the green monster.
It is ironic G made the bar green.

I tend to agree with this. It is ironic that Google supplies the tools that some webmasters need to manipulate the serps. In the long run, it only makes Google's job harder (but hey, that means job security, right?). I am not convinced that the general public understands the toolbar, or even cares about it.
