The site to which I referred sprung back to the top of the rankings on Saturday a.m. I am now back where I should be and getting G traffic. I am not however holding my breath because I have become older and wiser during the last six months.
I also have a site that was created about seven or eight weeks ago. It was included within two days and immediately ranked near the top for a few hours before disappearing into oblivion. On Saturday it too started to receive some traffic but at a lower level because it is still nowhere near the top.
What I expect to see is that in a month or so this site will make another move up the charts. Sometimes it takes three months and two or three updates to get there. Of course this all assumes that you have followed G's guidelines.
How different is the IP? Is it on a different subnet altogether?
Yes the IP address is completely different, different hosts and everything. The only thing that is the same is the whois info (as they're both obviously in my name) but I have another 4 year old site in my name also linked to from the PR6 site which is fine, so I don't think whois info is a factor.
I believe my site will start ranking within a month having served its 'new site notice period'.
