My SERP's experience over last 6 months.

What I have experienced.

I have a site that has gradually gained rank over the last 2 years, I created this site as a advertising tool for my business. It isn't required for me to do business but I have gotten a few customers from it.

I completely recoded over the summer following the suggestions found on this site in posts. Before September it was hovering in the teens for the keywords I was interested in. I uploaded the new version in late August. Over the course of the next 3 months I saw my traffic increase about 1/3 each month and my homepage jump to #7. Then disaster, sometime in January it dropped out and went as low as 40-50 (sometimes not at all) which was lower than what it was when originally launched. I've been following the posts on here and noticed that others were having the same trouble. My stats didn't drop a whole lot as many of my other pages were picking up the slack because of the redesign.

I'm glad to say that over the last month it has slowly climbed out of basement and is now ranking higher than before.

I just wanted to share my experience. I don't do this for a living so my experience in this area is small but I have learned a lot from this and other sites. If anyone has any specific questions regarding my situation I would be glad to answer them as I have learned a lot from others.
