If you were offered a pr7 site to link to

would you jump at the opportunity?

Kinda connected to another thread I'm following - what do people here think about getting advertising at a high ranked site , get some pr going, and then immediately start making link requests to other high(er than you'd be able to get) pr sites to shore up your pr in that position?

Sounds solid. PR isn't always what it seems though, so if you are paying a lot, make sure you isolate and test it's effectiveness.

our site is PR7 and we have been offering sponsored text links on our homepage. we run the ads through phpadsnew to make ads management more efficient.

but with this need for getting high ranked sites to link to you, we have many advertisers requesting that we hard code their links to our homepage and not run their ads through phpadsnew. even if they pay additional (and of course we charge them more). we limit the sponsored links to 5 at any one time, yet we have a list of advertisers waiting in the wings. we even have several advertisers who says they don't care about the number of clicks they receive from our site, as long as we have their links on the homepage.

i just find this whole obsession of getting high PR to be bordering on the ridiculous. even if we explain that PR is not all that it's cracked up to be. every one wants a shortcut to success.

Perhaps so ... but if it makes people willing to pay you well for a link ... will you complain?

as an advertising medium, well -- i will milk it for all it's worth :o)

plus, those who buy ads for pagerank tend to be longer term advertisers.
