Are Google Using IP Addresses and WHOIS for PageRank?

Question about what else google might include in determining PR value.

I know google keeps track of IP address's used to host various domains, so as to not allow 1 particular domain to become a PR10 by having the owner of that domain register another 200 domains, and link from all 200 domains to the 1 domain. So my question is, does google also keep track of the whois info of domains?

Specifically, if using the above example, a webmaster were to utilize 200 unique ip host address's, one ip per domain, and then have all 200 domains link to the 1 main domain, would that work? Or would it not, because google keeps track of the whois info, and would be able to see the same webmaster owns all 201 domains?

And if so, does this mean if a webmaster were to create 200 'fake' domain owners, John Doe, Billy Joe, Suzy Que, etc. that google would then allow the 1 main domain to become a PR10 because it appeared 200 seperate domains/domain owners were voting for this 1 main domain?

Thanks,
Newb

It has been stated that they do not _currently_ use whois info in the main algo. That is not to say they don't spot check.

How do you "know" this?

It would take a lot more than linking from a lot of garbage domains to get a PR10. PR is not calculated by the number of domains that link to you, it is calculate by the number and quality of the pages that link to you.

You need thousands of high PR links before you can even come close to a PR10.

If you really want to register domains to help you get to PR10, I would suggest that you try registering one of the following: dmoz.org, apple.com, microsoft.com, nobel.se and google.com. Once you have all of these, along with a few others, you will have your PR10.

I personally believe Google use whois as a factor, the older the domain the better.. but once it lapse & you reregister it the PR gets cut off. That's what GGuy once said.

There does seem to be a problem when a site is deleted. If you buy a site and completly change what it is there is no penalty. I have done this several times. Both sites kept PR and rank very well. I do get a lot of hate mail because the old visitors miss the old site.
