A Dutch directory site has stolen my index page as far as google is concerned. When you search for my site, you get their site title with my description. My ranking is now dropping like a rock! Someone told me it is just the way they link, it opens my page in their frame. Is this correct? Why does google think they are my index.html page and how do I stop it?

Do I need a script to break out of the frame, will this correct google? Can I block them from linking to my page with ht access?

Thanks

I don't know what the reason is but it happened to other people due to the way of linking.

I had a website who framed my webcam in the past, I used this script to break out of the frame.

function breakout_of_frame()
{
if (top.location!= location) {
top.location.href = document.location.href ;
}
}

The script is unlikely to affect Google.

Email the directory and instruct them to remove all links, etc. to your site. If they do not comply, email Google citing breach of copyright.

From discussions in other threads, the cause is probably a meta redirect. To test this, switch off redirection in your browser and inspect the source code.

You can also use something like Rex Swain's HTTP viewer to figure out what they are doing.

There is another report of something very similar, if not exactly the same, on another forum.

The site that "posted" the link was a MUCH larger site.

Upon investigation, the site did NOT really link to this persons site at all.

What they did was cache a version of her sites main page on their website then the link they added actually was a link to themselves. Upon opening the page, there was a call to redirect to the girls actual site.

The benefit was ALL to the linking site. They added an extra page, new keywords already targeted, and NO PR loss what-so-ever!

The person requesting the link got her site hijacked.

[edited to add- I would not only suggest that the link be removed but, if there, the copy of your webpage from there site.)
